Documentary on Puppy Mills to be screened

MENANDS - On Monday, April 30, a special showing of the documentary film "Madonna of the Mills" will be held in the Legislative Office Building.

The film follows a woman named Laura as she save thousands of dogs from puppy mills in Pennsylvania where the dogs spend their entire lives in tiny cages without any human contact.

The film screening is free and open to the public. After the screening, attendees will have an opportunity to learn about pending legislation in New York.

The screening is at 11:30a in room 711-A.

125th annual Humane Society anniversary gala

MENANDS - On Saturday, April 21, the Mowhawk Hudson Humane Society will be hosting the 125th Arounf The World for 80 Strays benefit gala.

The Society will present the 2012 Humane Heroes Awards, and hold a live auction of many great items.

The gala will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn on Hoosick Street.

Reservations to the Black-tie event are $125 a person and are available by calling 518-434-8128 Ext. 206.

Breakfast with Bark Busters will celebrate 5 year anniversary

Bark Busters Home Dog Training is celebrating their five year anniversary.

Breakfast with Bark Busters, hosted by Rachel Baum CPDT-KA will be at the Guilderland Chamber of Commerce on Friday, Feb. 10 from 8:30 to 10 a.m.

The Chamber is located in Guilderland at 109 2050 Western Avenue in the Star Plaza. Participants will have the option of donating $5 at the door which will benefit Forever Home Greyhounds.

Happy Cat Rescue holds adoption clinic

Happy Cat Rescue, Inc. in Altamont is holding its first cat/kitten adoption clinic on Saturday, Dec. 3.

The rescue says they have lots of rescued kittens and young cats that have been spayed, neutered, shots and tested and need nice loving homes.

It will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Guilderland Animals Hospital  at 4963 Western Turnpike in Altamont.

Shelter looks for part-time employee

There’s an opening job opening at Guilderland’s animal shelter on French's Mill Road in Guilderland Center.

The shelter is looking for a part-time worker to provide coverage on weekends, holidays, and vacations. Responsibilities include cleaning and maintaining the shelter, care and feeding of shelter animals

The hourly rate is $10 an hour.
