Americade will run for a week starting Saturday and is billed as the world's largest touring rally. It draws about 50,000 people to the southeast Adirondacks, many of them using I-87 in the days leading up to events.

Riders also tour scenic Adirondacks roads and accidents are reported each year, some of them serious.

The Thruway Authority has safety warnings running on electronic message boards urging drivers to be alert for motorcycles.

Bethlehem Public Library Centennial to be held May 11

DELMAR – The Bethlehem Public Library will celebrate it’s 100th Birthday Party in Delmar on May 11. Following is more on the celebration:

On May 14, 1913 the women of the Delmar Progress Club voted to found a free public library in the little hamlet where they lived.  A century later, we celebrate their far-reaching vision with two events.

On Saturday, May 11 at 1p.m, the Progress Club will re-enact the meeting that started it all, and present a small portion of 'Whatever Became of Parker", a comedy play they produced as a fundraiser for the first library building.

Songs of the time will be interspersed among the dialogue, with those present asked to join in on one.

There will also be an ice cream social (Ben and Jerry's), another Progress Club fundraiser of the time, to follow at 2p.m.
