Albany County legislator’s daughter surrenders to police

ALBANY - Another relative of Albany County Legislator, Wanda Willingham, has been arrested. Willingham's daughter, Faye, has been charged with grand larceny and welfare fraud.

According to the Albany County Sheriffs Office, Faye was not reporting her time off from her job at the County Department of Social Services.

At the same time, social services were paying her father, Elijah Willingham, to baby-sit her four children.

Last week, Elijah Willingham was charged with accepting payments from social services while he was working his regular job at Amtrak.

Former clerk for Albany Co. Sheriffs Dept. sentenced

ALBANY - A former clerk for the Albany County Sheriff's Department, William Lofink was sentenced this morning to 90 days in jail.

Man sentenced in animal cruelty case

SCHENECTADY - A Schenectady man responsible for what authorities call one of the most disturbing cases of animal cruelty is being sentenced today.

Investigators say Wendell Smith killed two cats, and nearly killed a third in his apartment in back in March.

Police say smith has a history of animal abuse.

Investigators say last year, he left dogs without food or water for days in the town of Berne.

Two accused of stealing over 6K from Slingerlands home

ALBANY - Two accused jewel thieves are now behind bars in Albany, charged in two separate cases.

Eighteen year-old Tina Civitello and 22-year-old Meagan Murzda are accused of stealing 6,300 from a home in Slingerlands.

Investigators say they pawned the stolen goods at two jewelry stores in Rotterdam.

Police say Murzda and Civitello knew the homeowner. They're charged with grand larceny.

Two accused of stealing jewelry from Coeymans home

COEYMANS - Two Ravena men have been charged with burglarizing a home in Coeymans.

Coeymans police say Joseph Persico, 20, and Joseph Shays, 21, broke into a home and stole $800 hundred worth of jewelry.

Police say the men sold the items to jewelry stores and pawn shops in Crossgates Mall and Colonie Center.

They're both in the Albany County jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Police warn residents about burglaries in Guilderland

GUILDERLAND - Guilderland police are asking for your help to stop a rash of burglaries throughout town.

Police say most of the break-ins took place during the day over the past few months and all appear related.

Residents are being urged to be aware of their neighborhood and report anything out of the ordinary to police.
