Red Cross teams with Price Chopper for flood relief | Community Spirit
Price Chopper and the American Red Cross have teamed up to raise funds to help local victims of this spring’s heavy rains and floods.
From now until the end of May, $1 from every fresh-made pizza sold (both hot or cold for take-out) at any of Price Chopper’s 48 stores in the Capital Region and the North Country will be donated to the American Red Cross of Northeastern New York’s Spring Storms 2011 Local Disaster Relief efforts.
“Price Chopper’s emergency response efforts take many different forms,” said Mona Golub, the chain’s VP Public Relations and Consumer and Marketing Services in a written statement. “Over the years, our teammates and customers have helped disaster victims regionally, nationally and internationally by contributing to our ‘Your Help Counts’ pin-up program at the register, which has matched hundreds of thousands of dollars donated by the Golub Foundation. In some instances, truckloads of water and other necessities have been shipped directly to the communities in need. Now, with the spring flooding that has debilitated communities close to home, we must come to the aid of our neighbors here in New York.”
